DIY Botox Face Mask!

Dr. Oz's DIY Natural Botox Face Mask!

This is a DIY Anti aging mask that is said to be a natural alternative to Botox.  Realistically, I doubt that results of this mask are quite equal to the results that you would achieve through Botox, but regardless it is a really good mask.  It is very moisturizing and will leave your skin glowing without any harmful side effects.

Ingredients
Half of a banana (The riper the better)
1/4 cup organic yogurt
1 Tsp High Quality Honey

Why It works: The lactic acid in the yogurt exfoliates while the honey moisturizes.

Instructions

Put all your ingredients in a bowl and use a fork or whisk to combine all of the ingredients. Apply to cleansed skin and keep on for 15 minutes.  Rinse thoroughly.  Admire your new healthy complexion that you achieved minus the risk of any harmful chemicals!

An added tip: Before applying the mask put a washcloth soaked in warm water on your face for 3 minutes to open your pores and prep for the mask. I also suggest using a good quality micro needle roller prior to applying the mask if you own one.(This makes a big difference)  If you are interested in purchasing as well as learning more about micro needle rollers check out this site Age Revolt .  After removing the mask quickly go over your face with an ice cube this is believed to help tighten your pores.

Healthy Breakfast

Oatmeal with Peanut butter Bananas and Dark Chocolate

I love to make oatmeal for breakfast.  It is a great option if you are trying to start or maintain a healthy diet. I know it definitely helped aid in losing the baby weight after my daughter was born. I ate oatmeal every day for a couple months with different mix ins to keep it interesting.  This is my favorite combo though.

Ingredients
High fiber oatmeal (I buy Quakers brand) This is good for weight loss
Water(to mix with Oatmeal)
Peanut butter (about 2 TBS)
One Banana cut up
Dark chocolate chips(I used Ghiradelli)

All you need to do is prepare your oatmeal according to the box directions and simply mix in the add ins.  Then sprinkle a few dark chocolate chips on top.  The sugar in the chocolate doesn't exactly make it the greatest addition but I validate it by reminding myself that it does contain some antioxidants. My other favorite Mix in for oatmeal is Stonyfield Organic French Vanilla Yogurt with fresh Blueberries.

It takes 21 days...

Monday, September 23, 2013

It takes 21 days to develop a habit of regular exercise and since my daughter Emily has been born I definitely have not been putting in the time to consistently work out. I'm going to try to motivate myself with this idea I found on pinterest. The post that I saw had a picture with 21 numbered post it notes stuck in a doorway with the idea that after each workout you rip down one note.(Until you've reached 21 Days). I didn't love the idea of having to look at notes all over the wall for a month(or longer) so I've decided to use this cute stack of post its but just rip one off after each routine while keeping them together. I plan to start doing Pilates again...starting tomorrow

Sweet 16 Cake!

Tuesday, September 17, 2013

This is a picture of a cake I made for my cousin Taylor's Sweet 16th.  It's not exactly perfect I know, but its really only my 2nd attempt at a tiered cake.  On a side note I can't believe my 2nd youngest cousin is 16 years old!

Tomato Mozzarella & Basil Sandwich

Monday, September 16, 2013

This sandwich is to die for.  I make this almost once a week.  Its so simple and delicious.  Its an upgrade on your standard grilled cheese and tomato soup! These are made to dip in marinara sauce.
Ingredients
French Bread(I like to use La Brea Bakery)
Tomato slices
Fresh Mozzarella(I always get Bel Gioso)
Fresh Basil leaves
Extra Virgin Olive Oil
Butter
Barilla Marinara Sauce(This particular brand is essential)
It is truly the perfect compliment to these sandwiches.

       ♥  This Sauce!
Instructions
I reccomend buying your bread pre sliced.  I set up my bread slices on a chopping board.
First layer on the Mozzarella.  I buy the pre cut one so I usually smush it down a little so the slice isnt too thick. Next the tomato slices.  Lastly I lay three small leaves of basil on each sandwich.(Or a big one ripped in half) Top with another bread slice.  I use a small pat of butter on each of the top slices of bread. You could use only olive oil if you prefer.  Heat anout a TBS of Olive oil with a tiny pat of butter in a pan.  Place Sandwiches in pan.  I usually make three at a time.  Brown the sides until they are a light golden brown, and cheese is melted.  Transfer the sandwiches to a chopping board and cut each one into three pieces.  While your doing this heat about half the jar of marinara sauce in a small pot.  Serve the sandwich with a small bowl of Marinara to dip.

Enjoy!

Teriyaki Vegetable Stir Fry for Two

I love stir frys and this is a really easy recipe for lunch or a quick dinner.
You can make it to serve two, or save the other half for lunch the following day.

Ingredients

Uncle Bens Ready Rice Teriyaki Style
Coconut or Peanut Oil
Minced Garlic
5 cups vegetables
Teriyaki Sauce(I use Mr Yoshidas Original Gourmet,  It is the best)
I have tried a lot store bought teriyaki sauces and nothing compares.  I don't know of any grocery stores that carry it in my area, so I buy mine on Amazon in a 63 ounce container and that way I don't ever run out.  I believe you can buy it at Costco also

Instructions

Heat 2 TBS coconut or peanut oil in a pan.
Add a tsp minced garlic.(I like to use the pre minced that you buy in a jar when I make this, because it is faster and you don't have to get it on your hands.
Heat the Vegetables in the oil over med high heat for about 6 or 7 minutes or until crisp tender.
I used a mix of zucchini, sweet onion, carrots, broccoli, and sugar snap peas.
Pour about an 1/8 Cup of Teriyaki sauce over the vegetables and heat through.
Follow package directions to prepare rice(I did it in a skillet as opposed to the microwave)
Serve a cup of rice one each plate and spoon half of the vegetables over top of the rice.
Enjoy

Grey Leopard Love

Friday, September 13, 2013

I found this image on SadieandStella.com

The carpet runner by our front door is in need of an upgrade and I think this one was possibly made for me.  I love all shades of grey for decor and what girl doesn't appreciate a great leopard print?  I especially love grey for rug options because its ideal for hiding dirt, dust, etc.  I think grey is the best color to design around because it compliments so many other colors, especially turquoise, pink and yellow.  I firmly believe that every room in the house should contain at least one animal print.  Yes every room.  Whether it be a rug, chair, or even just a small accessory. I just think it really wakes up the room.   If you happen to love this rug as much as I do you can purchase it at RugsUSA.com    It is the "Kalahari" Runner in grey by Martha Stewart.

Buffalo Chicken Salad

Wednesday, September 11, 2013

My Favorite Salad!
Buffalo chicken salad is one of my favorites to make because its easy, fast and full of flavor.
Ingredients
Chicken Strips or Grilled chicken if you prefer
(I like to use Perdues found in the refridgerated section)
Franks Red Hot Sauce
Olive oil or Butter
Iceberg Lettuce
Sweet Onion
Small Tomato
Cheddar Cheese(shredded)
Ranch Dressing
Instructions
Heat about a Tablespoon of Franks Red hot in a pan along with about a 1/2 TBS of oil or butter.  Cook the chicken until lightly browned on each side(the chicken I buy is already fully cooked) then set aside on a chopping board.  Chop the chicken into smaller pieces.
Assemble the salad with the lettuce, a little bit of chopped onion, and some chopped tomato.
Put the chicken on top.  Sprinkle a little cheddar cheese on top.  Then add Ranch dressing if desired.
If you want to keep things a little lighter you can opt to use grilled chicken strips ,or even skip the dressing.  The salad will still have plenty of flavor from the chicken tomato and cheese.

Pink Chairs!

Monday, September 9, 2013

This is a super easy DIY project.  I had these chairs already so I only had to purchase spray paint.  I used Rustoleums Berry Gloss.  I found my inspiration to paint these chairs on pinterest. I had plans to find a bench at a flea market, but then it occured to me that I could use these chairs that I stole already owned. My parents lent us this set to use in the back yard for one of the kid's birthday parties and they kind of just became mine because they never took them back ..lol  There are two others chairs and a small rod iron table that matches also but I kept them their original color a light metallic gold. I think my mom painted them previously, anyway here is the picture that inspired these fab chairs!
