Apothecary Extracts Tea Tree Oil Review and Giveaway!

Sunday, October 26, 2014

Hey guys! Today I am reviewing Apothecary extracts tea tree oil.

This is a wonderful high quality oil that has a great variety of uses.  It is an essential oil that is derived from the leaves of the australian paperbark tree.  It is a natural antiseptic and antifungal.(Which is awesome!)  It's uses range from effectively treating breakouts to cleaning your home(without harmful chemicals)!

Why I love this product
Seeking out natural products has been a passion of mine since I have become a mother.  My oldest son is on the autism spectrum and I prefer to use gentle and more natural products for his benefit as well as the benefit of our family.  I do what I can to avoid toxins in our home especially in the subject of household cleaning.   Some brands of tea tree oil are diluted with add ins to save the company money and in turn are not quite as effective.  Apothecary extracts promises to be 100 percent pure and effective.  They are passionate about testing their oil and have the results to prove it.

Uses
Tea tree oil can be used to treat a multitude of skin issues and used to replace and make an abundance of beauty products.  It's powerful healing properties are used to treat acne, eczema, psoriasis, lice, fungal conditions, heal cuts/scrapes and more.  I used a drop of tea tree oil mixed with coconut oil nightly to heal a scrape that Emily(my daughter) received from a small fall recently. You can use it to make your own custom beauty potions such as, lotion, toner, shampoo and more. My favorite skincare related uses are to use it as a toner as well as adding it into homemade masks.  It is fantastic at fighting and preventing acne.   If you decide to purchase this oil via Amazon you will also receive a helpful guide full of recipes and homeopathic treatments.  It can also be used to replace a number of household cleaners.  If you are looking to make your home more "green" you should check them out!  I have always loved cleaning with white vinegar, but the addition of tea tree oil has made an immense difference.

This is a 4oz bottle of Tea tree oil and intended to last for the duration of a year or a bit longer.

Friday Favorites!

I adore this DIY gallery wall featuring washi tape opposed to frames.  Let's face it frames can get expensive.  This is a lovely and cost efficient idea for a girl on a budget.  My future gallery wall will be making an appearance sooner than I had planned! She recommends color groupings that will compliment each other on her site. I am loving the gold combo idea!

Check out her website for other creative and beautiful DIYs.  She has a collection of adorable and whimsy prints as well as gorgeous floral paintings.  She even has a DIY peony painting that is definitely worth checking out if you enjoy painting.

This sweater is perfect.

Here is my attempt at a kid's corner in our living room.  The teepee used to be in the playroom, but is getting a lot more use in it's new location!

In love with my tassel garland from Silverlake sisters.

It is well made and shipped out super fast!

I love hearts and DIYs.

Going to assume most people have seen this already ,but if not watch it!  It is hilarious.

Happy Weekend!!

Pumpkin Honey Hydration mask!

DIY Pumpkin mask

I love homemade beauty recipes!  I prefer products that are more on the natural side and opt to make my own masks rather than purchase them.   I tried out this pumpkin concoction the other day as it is appropriate to the season and I have quite a stock of canned pumpkin currently. My mom brings it over all the time!(She makes pumpkin cake a lot!) lol  I plan to use some more to make pumpkin cheesecake later on today.  I'm going to try Amanda's recipe over at Kids and Cabernet! (Wish me luck in not devouring half the cake, because it looks to die for and cheesecake is my fave!

Ingredients for my Pumpkin honey hydration mask!

2 Tbsp Pumpkin (canned will work just fine !)I used canned. Let's be honest I am not putting in the effort required to use fresh pumpkin just for a mask! :)

1 Tbsp Coconut water

1 Tsp Organic honey

*I like to use zico coconut water and drink the remainder. It has the best taste compared to other coconut water brands.

Whisk your pumpkin, coconut water and honey in a small bowl.

Apply the mask to clean skin.

3 Let sit 10 - 15 min.

Rinse off to reveal refreshed and super hydrated skin!
Follow up by drinking the coconut water for even more skin hydrating benefits.

Why it works
The pumpkin offers gentle exfoliation as well as antioxidants and vitamins.  Zinc being one of them which promotes healing and skin regeneration. The honey is for moisturizing.  The coconut water is hydrating as well as calming to parched skin.

I used this mask after I had been sick when my skin was suffering and it helped to restore my normal complexion quickly.

A great tip is to use a micro needle roller prior to applying your mask.  I always do this before applying a mask as it enables it to sink in and maximize the efficiency. I prefer Age Revolt's Roll and Renew.  It is of superior quality to other's I have owned.  It is an incredible beauty tool for those interested in taking steps against aging .  In case you missed my review on their products here it is!  Age Revolt Review

Also check out my DIY Botox mask!

Happy weekend ladies!
