Holiday Hair!

Monday, December 23, 2013

I love both of these embellished hairstyles! They are perfect if your looking to add a little sparkle to your holiday look.  If you like the looks above I recommend checking out Anthropologie. They sell the most beautiful hair accessories on their website!  Their hair ties are so pretty some of them can actually double as a bracelet!

Half up with a bow
Pull your hair into a half up style and secure with a bow barrette, or simply tie with a pretty ribbon.(I would use a small hair tie and then wrap the ribbon over top, so it is sure to stay put.

Middle parted waves
Lauren Conrad's hairstyles are consistently nothing short of perfection! I love her style(and her), she always manages to look pretty and polished.

Simple holiday gift wrap ideas!

Thursday, December 19, 2013

This is a quick post with some last minute holiday gift wrap ideas. I finally got a chance last night to wrap the majority of the kid's presents! I refuse to be up on Christmas eve wrapping anything this year lol.(Which I unfortunately happen to be known for!)  I like to label a few from us and the rest from Santa. For the presents from Santa I use Christmas wrapping paper, bows, etc.  For the presents from us, I wrap them in butcher paper and embellish them with different ribbons and other items.  I love to save Christmas cards from the previous year to re purpose as cute gift tags.  This is something my mom always does.  She also used to sign Santa's gift tags in printing and presents from she and my dad in cursive, so I do that also!  I used this tutorial. How to create fake calligraphy

I  like the way it came out.  It isn't perfect...but let's consider the fact that I do happen to be deliriously tired most nights after I get the kids to bed!

For Emily's gift I wrapped it with a combination of ribbon and lace.  I punched the polka dots(using a one inch circle punch) out of label sheets that I painted with mod podge and gold glitter.  I finished it off with pink peacock feather.

Anything that will add a little sparkle or interest would make a great gift embellishment such as a small ornament, a glittery initial, candy canes, faux florals, homemade gift tags, garland, confetti, polka dots punched out of colored crepe paper, stick on fake gems or pearls, even a small toy.  You could also use a gold pen to draw polka dots directly onto the paper!

Feel free to share any of your ideas below! Have a wonderful Holiday!

DIY pink peacock feather and gold confetti ornaments!

Tuesday, December 10, 2013

I finally got around to making some Christmas ornaments and I love the way they turned out!  I went with a pink and gold theme.  I used pink peacock feathers and different sizes of gold sequins to fill clear ornaments that snap together.  I chose the acrylic ornaments over the glass(although I think the glass are prettier) because they are a little more kid friendly.  Judging by the fact that the boys accidentally drop every third or so ornament that they hang up on the floor lol.  Cole also happens to be a re-arranger.(Which most kids enjoy to do) I might make some more with faux flowers inside or possibly gold glitter.(Depending if I want to risk cleaning that up).  I think peonies or roses would be cute if they happen to fit!

Sparkling Holiday Ideas!

Thursday, November 28, 2013

I love to decorate for Christmas!  ♥
Here are some of my favorite inspirations for Holiday fun and decor ideas!

1. Fill clear ornaments with Sequins!
I love this idea.  I saw some on pinterest filled with fine glitter that were gorgeous, but If they were to get broken...glitter is tough to clean up.

                                                         2. Starry String lights!
Starry string lights are so delicate and pretty.  They are perfect for indoor light decorating.

I got mine on Amazon, it was the best price I could find on them.

3. Coffee filter snowflakes!

Here is a really fun tutorial on how to make snowflakes out of coffee filters!
I think this would be the perfect material for them. I'd like to try this with the boys tomorrow.

4. DIY Advent Calender!

How fun would this be for kids?
You could fill it with mini animals, candy, temporary tattoos, etc.

5. Glass Hurricanes and floating candles

6. Glittered Branches
Modpodge and Silver Glitter would probably work well for this.

7. Christmas Ball Magnets
You would need some seriously strong magnets but a cute idea.

8. Decorate Mini Trees for kids!
This is one of my favorite ideas! I found this idea on Veronika's Blushing.  She decorated this precious little tree for her baby daughter.  I'm thinking our home is in need of a super hero tree.  It would be a fun tradition to start!
