Perfect Black Boots!

Tuesday, November 26, 2013

I finally found the perfect pair of black suede flat boots!
I have been looking for a plain, low heeled, fitted
black boot for years!   I have found other pairs that were exactly what I was looking for, but not at a reasonable price.  It seems the plainer they are(With a low heel) the more the price rises. Finding flat boots wasn't the problem but I end up sacrificing something, either the boot was slightly slouchy or there was a buckle or some type of embellishment. If they did happen to be plain they were accompanied by a 3 inch wedge heel.(Which doesn't lend well to caring for children!) I also prefer flat boots because I am 5'6 and don't desire the extra height.  These were an early Christmas present from my lovely parents.  Yes that's right my parents still buy christmas gifts for their almost 28 year old daughter, don't laugh!

 ♥ These!

Scent your home like Christmas!

Sunday, November 24, 2013

To fill your home with a cozy Christmas scent simply place 2 Tsp of Vanilla extract in a mini ramekin. Add a dash of cinnamon and a few drops of peppermint oil.  Bake in 350 degree oven for 1 hour.
I like to do this when I'm cleaning. I typically just use the vanilla(So the house smells like cupcakes!) but I figured I'd spice it up for the Holidays!

Taco Salad!

Friday, November 22, 2013

I'm always looking for new ways to serve tacos!  It's one of my husband's favorite meals so I make them at least every other week.  I love how easy and quick they are to throw together on a day that I've worked.  To make this salad I cooked a pound of ground beef with a packet of store bought taco seasoning.  To serve I set out a buffet on my counter with a big bowl of chopped romaine lettuce and the salad add ins.  That way everyone can build their own salad to their taste.  This time I set out corn chips, cheddar cheese and grape tomatoes.  I like to serve mine with Catalina dressing but its also great on it's own!

Pretty Fruit Salad!

Clean your Fruit!
Fill your sink with warm water and a 1/4 cup of vinegar. Soak fruit for ten minutes.
Allow to dry on paper towels.(I saw this on pinterest and it works really well)

Peel and chop your fruit.  Soak your apples in lemon juice.(To keep from turning brown)
Add a TBS of sugar and some sparkling apple juice.

I used 2 granny smith apples, 2 kiwis, a Mango, Strawberries, and Raspberries.

Adorable Baby Glitter headband!

I am in love with this headband I got for Emily on Etsy!  The band is gold glitter and the bow is made of out of a soft felt.  I bought it from this Etsy shop  CharlieCocos.
I really love that it is soft, comfortable and very stretchy. I definitely prefer this type of strap opposed to the very thin strap headbands which just seem too fit too tight in my opinion.  (Even when they are sized properly)  It may just be the way they look. I'm not sure, but anyway her shop is adorable. I recommend checking it out if you have a little girl to shop for!  All of her designs are handmade and very unique. There is also a code to get 15% off your first order!(If you Like her facebook page) The headband arrived in adorable packaging as well.  It seems very well made, overall I'm really happy with the purchase!  Go buy one for the little princess in your life!

Oh and it is beyond adorable on...Here is a pic of the Queen Bee wearing her new accessory!

Broccoli & Cheddar Noodles!

Tuesday, November 19, 2013

I love pretty much anything involving both cheddar and broccoli.  It is such an indulgent and comforting combination.  You can serve it as a side dish or add in some chopped roasted chicken to make it into a meal.  I like to serve this with Barbecue or Coconut Chicken.  Here's what you'll need to make it:

Ingredients:
12 Ounce box of Mini Rotini or Macaroni noodles(I used Barilla's White Fiber mini rotini)
One can evaporated Milk
1 Can cheddar cheese soup(This is the secret ingredient to make it extra creamy!)
4 TBS Butter
2 Cups shredded cheese(I like to use Cracker Barrel's marbled sharp cheddar)
Olive Oil
1 TBS minced onion
1 Cup petite frozen broccoli
Sea salt
  Instructions
1. Cook your pasta according to box instructions.
2.Saute your broccoli and onion in a pan with Olive Oil.
3. Chop your broccoli into tiny pieces and set aside.
4.Drain your pasta and place it back in the pot you cooked it in.
5. Add your 4 TBS of butter and mix in until melted.
6. Add half the can of evaporated milk.
7. Add in the chopped broccoli and onion and the two cups of Shredded cheddar cheese.
8.Season with Sea salt
9. Stir to combine and serve immediately!(Otherwise it will really start to stick together and become difficult to serve)

Tip:  If you want to reheat leftovers put a dab of butter with some milk in a pan and reheat over med low heat to keep from drying out!
